With the 2016-2017 basketball season underway, we have noticed major improvement in our school’s performance. Balancing friends, family, grades and a sport can be a difficult task, but sophomore Blake Tilley has found a way to make it possible.
“I have learned a lot and improved my skill since last season,” said Tilley. “I played a lot of JV last year, but I am getting to see how big of a rush varsity is now.”
By seeing his improvements in one year, many people are predicting that he will lead the team his senior year.
Tilley started playing basketball when he was very young and has continued to play throughout his life.
“I don’t know if I like to play baseball or basketball more,” says Tilley. “I’ve always been competitive with my older brother.”
When the basketball season comes to an end, Tilley jumps straight into spring baseball. This leaves little time for breaks, due to his overload of practices. He manages his stress and time very well.
“I’d like to play baseball in college, probably at West Virginia University or Marshall University,” said Tilley. He does a good job with keeping his grades high and balancing sports, therefore Tilley has a high chance of getting an athletic scholarship.
When Tilley is not in the gym practicing or at school improving his education, he is having fun with his friends.
“My friends are important to me. I definitely have to keep them in my schedule,” said Tilley. “I wouldn’t make it without them.” He also gets to spend time with his friends at practice.
Tilley does an impeccable job managing his time and social life. With his future rising fast, Tilley has big plans for the upcoming years.
