Football spirit

The class of 2018 is bursting with anticipation as their senior football season draws near. As the kings and queens of the student section, the seniors cannot wait to plan Friday night themes, get hyped up at pep rallies and most importantly cheer on their beloved team.
“I am so ready and pumped to cheer on my boyfriend under the Friday night lights,” said senior Lauren Fife. “I cannot believe it is my last year watching him play on Midland’s field.”
Homecoming is another great aspect of football season. It adds to the many activities leading up to the most festive game of the year.
“This year for the homecoming game we play Parkersburg,” said senior football player, Jordan King. “I think we have a great chance at taking home the win.”
One of the many perks of being an upperclassman is the decision making behind the student section theme. All of the students love to show up to games decked out in spirit.
“My favorite theme from last year was America night, because everyone really got into it,” said Fife. “This year I hope we can put together an ugly Christmas sweater theme night.”
For the fans, there is more to the games than just the football. The atmosphere at Midland stadium is filled with excitement.
“I love seeing what the band can do during the halftime show,” said Fife. “And you can’t forget to buy one of the amazing frozen lemonades from the concession.”
Pep rallies have been a tradition here at midland for all of the major games. It is a great way for the students to get hyped before the school day has ended.
“Freshman year we had the drumline dressed in all white while they banged on drums covered in paint,” said Fife. “It was the coolest thing and it got all of the students pumped up.”
Even the players are excited to show their abilities and up their game from last year’s season.
“We have lots of talent, there is no doubt about it,” said King. “We have greatly improved from last year.”
