The Cabell Midland knights had an astonishing victory over the St. Albans Red Dragons on Friday, Aug. 24, 2018. Midland had a 27 point lead by the end of the first quarter. Ivan Vaughn had three touchdowns in the first half dominating St. Albans at the break, 55-0. The Offensive line left Vaughn, Adkins and Carter untouched in the backfield, with Logan Osburn leading the way at right tackle. Senior Jayce Gould had a solid first start at quarterback.
“I’m very confident in Gould,” said wide receiver Carlito Carter. “He knows what he’s doing. Gould has a baseball background, he’s used to throwing – he’s got a great arm.”
Carter said his goal for the team for this season is to go 14-0 with a state championship. Midland has a new offense ran by Coach Luke Salmons. Also with a new Coach coaching the wide receivers, Cody Carter, former Marshall football player.
“I really believe in Coach Carter,” said senior running back Ivan Vaughn.
The Knights seem to be adapting to the new offense by Coach Carter when they took on Saint Albans, scoring 62 points. Next week the Knights head to Parkersburg for a game against the Big Reds. This game will be televised on channel three. Carlito Carters’ score prediction or the upcoming game is 70-0. He is expecting big things this Friday night. Carlito Carter, who was all state last year, first team. He expects to be right back up there again this year. Except for a new team, he still has the same goals.
