This past week was College Exploration Week at Midland and it gave students the chance to check out and even apply for certain universities.
College is something that high schoolers hear about constantly and the question most people have is, is going to college really worth it? Junior Allie Adkins shared her thoughts and opinions on the subject.
“There’s a lot of benefits that come from going to college, like being able to get a better education and a good job in the future,” said Adkins.
While a college education can lead to a more successful career and higher income for most people, it has its downfalls as well. Student loans is probably one of the most prevalent issues with young people in today’s society. The problem is that it tends to discourage people from going to college out of fear of being in debt as adults.
“A couple of the disadvantages with going to college is the price of tuition and the hard work it takes,” said Adkins.
The truth is college isn’t for everyone and some people are better off choosing a different path in life, but going to college is a great way for someone to make sure their future is secure and almost guarantees they will get a well-paying job.
“I think college is definitely worth it because it can give you a much better life,” said Adkins.
College Exploration Week may have come to a close but it’s never too late to start looking into possible universities!
“I plan on going to Mount West in the future,” said Adkins.
