Holiday Favorites – What to Watch on Christmas Eve

Elizabeth Simmons, Reporter

Everyone that celebrates Christmas knows that holiday movies are a must, but which ones are truly the best to watch this holiday season?

1. How The Grinch Stole Christmas

In this live-action rendition of Dr.Seuss’ children’s book, comedic actor Jim Carrey portrays the classic Grinch character, a grouch against all Christmas-related things. Although the movie can be viewed by a child-level audience, many of the witty jokes throughout the movie keep teens and adults laughing throughout.

2. Elf

This movie follows the tale of a common human, Buddy, after he sneaks into Santa’s bag and returns to Santa’s Workshop in the North Pole. When Buddy grows older, Santa tells him about his true father, Walter Hobbs, and informs him that his father, of all people, is on the naughty list. Buddy then sets off on a trek to aid his father into gaining his way onto the nice list, instilling Christmas cheer everywhere he goes!

3. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

Inspired by the traditional carol, this film follows the alleged story of Rudolph, meeting his friends, following him on his trip with Santa around the world on Christmas Eve.

4. The Santa Clause Trilogy

These films depict the travels of a man as he takes on the position of the “new” Santa Claus. From wooing the local school’s principal to ridding the Pole of Jack Frost to having a baby Claus, these movies are sure to take you on one wild ride!
