Since it is the beginning of the new month, I decided it would be a great time to introduce: Mere’s Motivation. Mere’s Motivation is where I share one of my favorite quotes to motivate everyone to get through the new month. Without further adieu, here is my first Mere’s Motivation!

A famous quote by Maya Angelou says: “You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.”

This quote can apply to so many situations from relationships, work, to even school. I am a firm believer that the way a situation ends up is the way it was meant to be. You can’t control everything so stop putting the blame on you! It was meant to be, so don’t let it bug you. I strongly suggest taking the steps to make you feel better. If you have to unfollow someone on social media in order to make you feel better, do it! If you have to cut ties with old friends in order to make you feel better, do it. Don’t force yourself into something if it isn’t meant to be. In some situations, you aren’t in control and that’s okay, sometimes you just have to let go and enjoy the ride.

I know what you are wondering; if you can’t control some events then what can you control? What you can control is how you react to the situations. Life always has its highs and lows, it’s just a part of life. If you try your best to react calmly and reach for help when needed, you are already helping yourself emotionally and physically. Just remember the world isn’t going to change unless you take part in the change, so make the change!

Honestly, high school hasn’t been as great as it could have been for me. A lot of the situations I couldn’t control. In those situations, I have to decide if it’s going to get to me or if I should let it go. From now on, if I can’t control it, I’m letting it go. As my senior year begins, I am trying my best to pave the way to make this year one of my best school years. I decided to take fun classes and try to reach out to new people. I have found that this year, I am just all around happier.

Overall, if you are reading this please know that you aren’t alone. You can’t control what happens to you, but only how you react.
