On October/30/2019 the Washington Nationals won their first World Series.  The Nationals have been around since 1969, but were the Montreal Expos. They were in Montreal from 1969-2004. Then in the 2005 season they became the Washington Nationals.

This is a very disappointing loss for the Houston Astros, who were favored to win the series. The Nationals had a crazy season, after most people thought they wouldn’t even make it to the postseason after losing MLB star Bryce Harper in free agency to the Phillies.

The Nationals won the game 6-2. Nationals star hitter Anthony Rendon had a two run homerun in the game. Howie Kendrick lso had a homerun for Washington. The only player to hit a homerun for the Astros was Yuli Gurriel.

The MVP of the 2019 World Series was Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg. He started and won games two and six for the Nationals. In game two he threw six innings and only allowed two runs.

This was a great win also for Nationals first baseman Ryan Zimmerman. He has been on the team since 2005, when the Nationals started in Washington. Also young star Juan Soto, who is only 21 years old and has won a world series.
