Last week was the 6th week of the 2019-2020 NBA season. The players of the week and the rookies of the month were released.

The Eastern Conference player of the week was Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo. During the week he averaged 34.8 points, 11.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.5 blocks for the Bucks, who went 4-0 last week. The Bucks are 17-3 on the season, which is the best record in the East. Giannis played four games during week 6, and in one of the games during the week versus the Jazz he had a 50 point game.

The Western Conference player of the week was Carmelo Anthony. His return to the NBA has been a special moment for the fans and for him and his family. The Trailblazers went 3-0 in week 6, beating the Chicago Bulls twice and beating Carmelo’s former team, the Oklahoma City Thunder. In week 6 Carmelo averaged  22.3 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists. This is the first time Carmelo has been won player of the week since 2014. This is a special reward since before he signed with the Trailblazers two weeks ago he hadn’t played since Nov. 8, 2018, with the Houston Rockets.

The Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month went to Miami Heat guard Kendrick Nunn. The undrafted rookie has had a unexpected rookie season. He’s looking like the clear front runner for Rookie of the Year, if he won the award he would be the first undrafted rookie to win Rookie of the Year. During the month Nunn averaged 16.4 points, 3.2 assists and 1.28 steals. The Miami Heat are also 15-5 and 2nd in the Eastern Conference, with Kendrick Nunn as their starting point guard.

The Western Conference Rookie of the Month went to Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant. The 20 year old rookie has had a phenomenal month. Ja averaged 18.6 points, 6.4 assists and 1.4 steals during the month. The Grizzlies are 6-14 and 13th in the Western Conference. Ja was just diagnosed with back spasms and will be out for at least 1-2 weeks. He is also a contender for Rookie of the Year.

Those are the players of week for week 6 of the 2019-2020 NBA season, and the Rookies of the month.
