On Saturday 12/14/19, the Dallas Mavericks played the Miami Heat. The game went into overtime and the Miami Heat won 122-118.

Two minutes into the game Saturday, Mavericks star Luka Doncic suffered a right ankle sprain. This happend on a play where Doncic tried to drive in the paint on Heats Jimmy Butler, Kendrick Nunn, and Meyers Leonard. He ended up landing awkwardly on his right ankle.

Luka has had a incredible season. He’s averaging 29.3 points, 9.6 rebounds, 8.9 assist, and 1.2 steals. He’s led the Mavericks to a 17-8 record. They’re 3rd in the Western Conference.

Luka will likely be sidelined past Christmas. Luka and the Mavericks are happy, because this injury could’ve been way worse. This isn’t a very severe injury but they should still take it seriously.

The Dallas Mavericks play Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks tonight. For the Mavericks to sustain their good record and placement in the Western Conference they will have to compete with these teams, even without Luka Doncic.

Kristaps Porzingis will have to be great while Luka is out. Kristaps is averaging 16.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assist. He will have to lead the team while Luka is gone.

The Mavericks hope Luka will be back soon, but in the meantime they hope that they can keep their team success going.
