Working While Still In School

AJ Tolbert, Reporter

Do you have a job? It is estimated that 1 in 4 high school students work a job while working on their education. How does this affect the students academically? Working more than 20 hours a week is where is starts to hurt the kids the most. Studies show that many kids can maintain good grades while working a part-time job. Some studies have actually shown that some part-time jobs in fact improve their grades and responsibility behaviors. It also makes them have a sense of the real world in turn making them less likely to drop out of school. So, if you are considering working during your high school experience I actually strongly encourage it. Don’t work yourself too much, but get a sense of the real world and make money while doing it!
