Throughout my years at Cabell Midland High School, I have never participated in any sports. Not because I was lazy or didn’t care, just because I didn’t want to give up all my free time. Every sport here at CMHS takes up a couple hours every day during its season. So the question remains, are sports worth it? I polled a few students who play sports to see if it was worth it. Senior Dawson Bryan said,

“I’ve played baseball every year while in high school and honestly I wouldn’t change that. Yes, it’s extremely time consuming but it’s worth it in the end.”

I also asked a student who has never played a sport while in high school to see if they regret it. Senior Reagan Light said,

“I mean I think it would’ve been nice to be a part of something like that, but I don’t regret having all that free time after school to do what I want.”

So what do you think? Is your free time more important than playing a sport?
