For the past four weeks, Cabell County has been working their hardest to take care of its students during this time of need. I am very thankful that our school system is stepping up during a scary time in our lives.

According to Cabell County Schools, they have been providing more than 8,400 meals each day during our closure. The meals feature a sandwich, fruit, milk, chips, juice, and breakfast for the next day. Theses meals go a long way for some families. The meals are delivered at certain locations by bus drivers and other service personnel. I would like to thank all the volunteers, cooks, bus drivers, and any service personnel for risking their health to help make and provide meals for families. If you are in need of a meal here is a list of all locations giving out meals courtesy of Cabell County Schools’ website.

Cabell County also created “Cabell Connected Classroom” this is a portal where families can receive new updates about Cabell County Schools and parents can also stay connected with their child’s Schoology by contacting teachers or doing school work. Teachers are also stepping up to make sure their students are staying safe during this closure by personally checking on all their students and are trying their best to carry on their instruction.

If you or another Cabell County Schools student you suspect is in need of food, internet, or any other services please reach out to your shield teacher, counselor, or grade level principal. They will try their best to help out with any problems.

Some Midland counselors are offering office hours if you need to have a discussion with your counselor. Just check your Schoology to see if your counselor is offering office hours. Counselors are also still sending out transcripts to colleges for seniors. If you are in need of a transcript just send your counselor a quick message on Schoology.

Overall, thank you to all of Cabell County Schools’ employees for coming together for the sake of the students during this time of need. This Cabell County Student really appreciates it!
