Netflix Review: Selena The Series

Netflix Review: Selena The Series

Amy Borowski, Reporter

On Dec. 4th 2020, Netflix released a new series called “Selena The Series.” The series is based on the real life of Selena Quintanilla who is one of the most loved Mexican-American artists of all time. The series highlights what sacrifices her family took and the dedication on making Selena a star. I began the series as soon as it was released, being a fellow Selena lover myself , and immediately was binge watching all the episodes. Christian Serratos plays the main lead role as Selena and did a fantastic job. Christian not only resembled Selena in a lot of her looks but was able to adapt to the character roles very well. The Series has two parts, the second part is set to release later in the year of 2021. The first part of the series is to highlight Selena y Los Dinos , whereas the second part is about Selena solo career. The Series does use Selena Quintanilla real voice rather then Serratos , but the younger actress Madison Beez who plays young Selena, does actually sing. I can not wait for the second season to come out and highly encourage all of you to watch it!
