Have you ever wondered why teachers teach the way they do? Well, I have spoken to the 9th-grade math teacher Mrs. Sybor. She has multiple ways she likes to teach. I remember how one of my favorite teachers from Barboursville middle, Mr. Watson, taught.
Mrs. Sybor has a pretty good teaching style. She said one of her favorite ways to teach was to have fun while learning to not stress about the work that she gives.
She said that she doesn’t like to give out homework. She gives her students a lot of days to do their work and she is easy to get along with. There was one time I took a test and got a bad grade on it, and she let me take the test again and gave me four days to let me study and get ready for the retest.
Mrs. Sybor has done it with multiple students, and she always wants to help us pass her class. She says she has always helped the students that she has taught in the past two years. Mrs. Sybor has always been wonderful at teaching, and she wants to always keep it that way.
Mr. Watson is one of my old teachers from Barboursville Middle. He was funny and energetic. One time I fell asleep in class because I was done with my work, and he jokingly put some fake moss on my head. We went to lunch, when we came back, and he was asleep, so I did the same thing back to him. He was cool about it, and we laughed it off. But when it came to schoolwork, he was strict.
If he would assign work, students would do it by the due date or they would get a zero. Students would get the grade they deserved for that assignment. He would tell you when they were going to be due, and then he would tell you to turn them in. If you didn’t, you would get a zero.
He was always willing to help if you put effort into what he assigned. For instance, if students had something going on at home and they talked to him, he would give you a little bit more time than normal. He would not do this every time because it was not fair to the other students who turned work in on time, but he would always try to make things fair.
After analyzing two teachers I that I had, in my opinion, Mrs. Sybor has the better teaching style. She has always been there for me when I needed help, and she is always willing to help even if it doesn’t involve her. But Mr. Watson always pushes the students to their limits. I think that Mrs. Sybor makes for a better teacher for me.
